12-26-06 Get Out of Jail Free

Barry Cooper wants to help you be aware of your civil liberties. Maybe it’s guilt. Maybe it’s greed. Maybe he’s just stoned.

For years, Barry was a Drug Enforcement Agent in Texas. According to the head of the department he worked for, he was the best drug cop in the whole state of Texas. According to some, he may have been the best drug cop in the United States. Law enforcement everywhere looked up to Barry. He taught his methods all over the country, successfully showing other cops how to spot and bust dope dealers. There are pictures of Barry proudly standing in front of mountains of seized dope.

Apparently, Barry must have thought he was trampling on the rights of those he arrested, because now he is on the other side of the fence.

He is launching a web site that will make sure you don’t get busted again, featuring his new video tape "Never Get Busted Again". He says he is doing it to help Americans understand their rights, and because the "war on drugs" is a terrible failure. The video claims to show viewers how to ‘conceal their stash,’ ‘avoid narcotics profiling’ and ‘fool canines every time.’"

Yeah, OK Barry, then why not just let everyone download the video? Why sell it? Could you just be going from narc to dope-pimp?

The DEA is looking into whether he has broken any laws by selling this information, and there are reports he has pissed off cops from Seattle to Key West.
What do you think? Is he a folk-hero? Cop gone bad? Cop gone good? Punk looking for a buck? Is America’s drug policy that wrong? I’ll post my thoughts in a couple days, but first tell Amp what you think. Check out his video ad below.
