Well, we were curious too, and did a bit of investigating…and we found out!

To understand it, you have to go back to the beginning of the Internet. Originally, the Net was developed in conjunction with the U.S. military to provide a communication system that would remain available during time of war, so the infrastructure grew up around the Pentagon in Virginia, just outside Washington D.C…and the highest concentration of Internet connectivity is still in this area. Mary Cheney and Ms. Poe also live in a Virginia suburb.
